Car Shipping
Whether you are getting cars, trucks, buses or bikes from the car auctions in Japan, Provide Cars will handle all the Japan-side work as well as the shipping for you.
Japan-Side Ports
The car auctions are all around Japan, and so also are the ports that we use. Rather than gathering all our vehicles in one place, which could be a long and, therefore, expensive journey from the auction each was bought in, we have arrangements at ports throughout Japan so that we can keep your transportation costs down to a minimum.
Destination Ports
During the years we have been in business, we have shipped to many ports throughout the world. In fact, the only continent we have never shipped to is Antarctica. We have an excellent network of contacts with all the major shipping lines so that we can find the quickest and best options for getting your cars to you. Our goal is to get you the cars as quickly as possible. After all, the faster we get them to you, the quicker you can sell them on to your customers - and come back to buy more from us.
Shipping
There are a number of different kinds of shipping arrangements we can use to get your vehicles to you.
Most countries are well-served by RORO (Roll-On Roll-Off) ships. The are specifically designed to carry vehicles. As a result, the vehicles are driven on and off, which means that they do not require any special packing or handling. This means that for the vast majority of customers, this is the most cost-effective method to get vehicles to them.
If RORO shipping is not available, the other options would be container shipping - whether using a full container, or buying space in part of a container (CFS).
Payment for Shipping
For many destinations, FOB shipping is the norm. FOB means “Free On Board”. In other words, we as the shipper are allowed to put our vehicles on the ship for no charge, and the shipping company is happy to wait for payment from the recipient at the other end. If FOB shipping is available, this is the best option for both the customer and Provide Cars alike: We charge you for the cost of the vehicle, the transportation from the auction to the port, and our fees - the shipping company then bills you for the shipping cost separately in at the other end, usually in the local currency.
Unfortunately, the ideal option of FOB shipping is not always available. This is normally decided by the shipping company on the basis of the destination country. In this case, we will pay the shipping company at this end and incorporate this cost into our charge to you. This second option is called CIF shipping. “C” refers to “Cargo”, “I” is “Insurance”, and “F” is the cost of the “Freight”.
